This sweet shop located in SP Verma Road has been ruling the hearts of people with its fragrance and taste for more than 50 years.

Nikhil, sitting at the shop, told Local 18 that this shop was opened by his grandfather Arjun Singh 50-60 years ago. After his grandfather’s death, his father Rudal Singh took over the responsibility of the shop. Now he himself sits at the shop in the morning and evening. According to Nikhil, this shop, famous as Rai ji’s shop, is known only for black jamun. However, apart from black jamun, chhena sponge, chamcham, samosa, kachori and chana ghugni are also served here. Where the rate of all the sweets is 20 rupees per piece. At the same time, two pieces of samosa cost 25 rupees. While the price of sieved litti and one piece of samosa is 25 rupees.

Earlier the price was 5 rupees per piece
Manager Dayanand, who has been working in this shop for 20 years, told that long ago, black jamun used to be sold at the rate of Rs. 5 per piece. As the prices of pure buffalo milk, khoya, maida etc. increased with inflation, the price of this sweet also increased in the same way. First it was sold at Rs. 7, then Rs. 8, then Rs. 15 and currently it is being sold at the rate of Rs. 20 per piece. Let us tell you that this sweet is liked by everyone from common to special. If Dayanand is to be believed, many times sweet parcels are sent to big leaders as well. Many big officers and employees of leaders keep coming here to get sweets.

How does the magic of taste remain intact?
Ajit, who makes Kala Jamun, tells that first of all buffalo milk mawa is prepared. This mawa is mashed well. After this, baking soda is added to this mashed mawa. After this, buffalo milk ghee is added to make it soft. Ajit further tells that after this it is put in a pan. There, one or two artisans prepare the syrup. While, cardamom and some secret things are also added to it for fragrance, which is ordered from Kala Diara itself.
